I’ll be helping my colleague again at Warwickshire College, Jamie Ward, raise money for Children with Cancer UK on Saturday 15th February 2020 by running a turning day at the Leamington Spa campus from 9am to 3pm. The cost is £60 with only 7 places available. All of the money goes to the charity with free use of the College workshop and my time.
If interested please contact Jamie at jward@warwickshire.ac.uk . It’s on a first come first served basis with payment made prior to the day.

I can recommend this. I had the opportunity last year and had a really enjoyable day, meeting some other turners like myself.
I was given good practical guidance, found out what I was doing 'wrong' and picked up valuable information from Mark ... and it's an excellent, worthwhile cause to contribute to.
Hats off to Mark, Jamie and the guys for putting this on.

Anyone that is undecided about this I can tell you that I see all of the feedback forms that come through the RPT website, Mark is the most prolific but also the comments that people have made about his teaching style and how much they enjoyed the day/course are second to none.

Thank you Sandy and John for your comments. I do appreciate them. Sorry Sandy but I can't place you ::) :)
For those wondering what the day will involve, I treat it as a fun day where the particitants are free to have a go at whatever they like with supervision and guidance from myself – that is provided it’s something I know about :-) In the past some have brought along a project they have been working on which they need a little help and advice with. Others have expressed an interest in trying out some of the hollowing tools I use or trying a new technique. Those that have tools bring them along and then I can comment on the grinds and possible improvements; through my years of teaching I've found this is the major cause of the problems that turners experience. Everyone is free to bring their own timber if they wish and use that if I deem it suitable. Alternatively I can usually provide something.
If anyone has any queries don't hesiate to contact me.

Thank you Pete and everyone else who took part. A long and tiring day for me but thoroughly enjoyed it and all in a good cause. Glad it's Jamie running the London Marathon and not me ;D
