Title: scorched beaker

This is a small pot which has been turned, scorched, wire brushed and sprayed with ebonising lacquer. the timber is Douglas Fir. Height is about 5", diameter about 4". c@c welcome.

Excellent job, Roger...some of the grainier softwoods scorch and scour really well.

There is a lovely contrast between the colour and texture of the outside with that on the inside. This is one of those instances where surface treatment works well for me, exploiting the nature of the material to best effect.

The in-out contrast really makes this piece.  I rather like black outers anyway for this reason.
