Title: Liberon verdigris wax
Post by: iantivenan on May 10, 2019, 11:53:01 AM
Hi
I have a tin of green liberon verdigris wax that I use now and then, but it's becoming dry in the tin, could anyone give me advice on what to add to make it easier to use. I looked at the liberon website but it didn't give any advice.
Thank you.
Ian.

You should be able to add some gum turpentine, and then let it sit for a while to give the turps a chance to penetrate the wax. If it was just wax, you could try heating it up gently, but I am not sure whether that will cause the verdigris particles to fall out. You might have to heat it until it's liquid (in a water bath!!!) and then stir it until it's all a homogeneous mixture, and let it set while stirring.

Thanks fuzzy
I'll try the gum turpentine.

Not Liberon and not Verdigris wax, but I had the same issue with Chestnut Gilding Wax, Terry (of Chestnut) suggested exactly what Fuzzy said and it worked wonders, but it must be turpentine.

Has anyone tried the verdigris was on steel, does it give any sort of Finish without an porous substrate?
