One piece from a new series.
Inspired by a visit to Les Symonds in the summer.
7" with a hint of silver gilt cream to the base and lime wax to the rim. Finished with microcrystalline wax as I don't expect them to be used for food.

Looks good but would be interested to know how you finished off the wire?

I like this. It's very wabi-sabi (perfection of the imperfection) or kintsugi (mending broken things).

I like this, Nick, and definitely wabi sabi. It appears to have some age to it, which is certainly meant to be a compliment.

I like this especially the impression the copper wire strapping is hold the wood from splitting any more

Great looking piece Nick :)

Thank you Dave, Fuzzy, Les, Derek and Ed for your comments.
I will post more in this series but cannot get in my workshop for a few weeks after foot surgery.

The copper wire is 0.8 mm and very malleable. It came from an electric motor field wiring. It is set into a groove turned into the rim. One end is secured into a .9mm hole, the other end is wound round the standing wire under tension and trimmed.
Kind Regards

Yeah, that Les and his copper wire bindings have a lot to answer for!
Think you've got this right, not too heavy with the copper, just enough to look like it's doing the job of holding everything together.
