Title: Website Events Page Update
Post by: Paul Hannaby on October 21, 2015, 05:12:48 PM
The events page on the website has been updated to add some extra features. It will sort by month, day or as a list, you can export dates to your google or iCal calendar and you can search events too. It also incorporates maps for the venues.

If you email me with relevant event details, I will add them to the website.

Paul, could you please also look into publishing the current schedule for the exhibition tour and which pieces are shown where (as discussed during the demo at BCWT)?

Paul,
Can you also let us know the policy on how long each event will stay on the website for? i.e. one month after the date or less etc., and will this be applied to all postings?
Ta
David

Paul, we seem to be missing a reply to my query on how long posts are on the site for. Can you let us have the information please. Ta.

 Hi David,
I might be missing the point to your question about how long these events will stay on the website surely once the event is over
what would be the need to leave it on unless it is to see what you have missed?

                                                            Regards John

The simple answer is it depends when I get round to cleaning up obsolete data!

May I suggest that the original posters of Events delete them, rather than leave it to Paul Hannaby, who, I am sure, has enough to do already.

It is simple enough to do, just scroll to the bottom of your posting and click on 'Remove topic'. This is just good, polite website etiquette.

I use the Events page to put two messages on the site. One covers the next two meetings at our club and is updated monthly, so would not be affected by an automatic deletion . However the other posting has our annual schedule. If that was to be deleted automatically after a month, it would rather defeat its purpose.

John, totally agree with your comments. No need to keep things on the page if they are past their sell-by date.

I agree with Paul's idea that the clubs/posters are responsible for removing past events.

Now we have some clarity, I can inform Cheam's communications organiser on what to do - we are not so organised as Derwent!!!

Just deleted the entry for our October meeting - quiter easy to do. By the way, we got extra visitors for the demo, some saying they say the notice on here. Well done AWGB!
