Title: Todays pieces.

  No. 1. : Made from Ash, hollowed and scorched then sealed and waxed. The finial is sycamore ebonised. Measures 7" diameter and 8" high.

  No. 2. : From a burr off a Red Elm measures 8 1/2 " diameter and 3" high. Sealed and waxed.

Hi Martin,
Two very nice piece, lovely piece of burr elm.
I like the shape of the hollow form and was considering if it needed the large base as I thought it distracts from the overall veiw of the shape. But then I changed my mind.

You'll wear that new workshop out if you carry on, Martin.

Not sure about the lidded form, but I think it's a personal quirk rather than the form. The burr elm bowl is simple and carried by the strength of the grain and colour and the shape you've chosen. A sure seller.

 Thanks for the comments, re the lidded form, the shape is taken from a section of Chinese art sculpture that is in Birmingham near the Chinese quarter.

Martin,  What can I add, it is 2 excellent forms, in seeing the Ash HF the Chinese element was my thought, not reading your reply, the Elm is a classic and real beautiful piece.
