Tony,

I'd say it was a very plain turning for you, but I'm betting you've picked it for the burr in it. Wonderful curve and finish.

Maybe just wood, but excellently done. A press you say, interesting would like to know what luck you have.

I think the idea of a press is quite intriguing as the wood will still move but due to its movement being restricted by the press anything could happen. :o :o :o

Thanks ..... Tom..... John (BHT )..... I have always had a press but it only took single pieces..... I knocked this together
very quickly yesterday , .... 18" max capacity , there are three bowls and one platter . It still requires some thought to
let the air circulate ..... The bowls were steamed before pressing ..... only time will tell.... I will keep you posted.
   Kind Regards
  Tony

HI Tony

This is an interesting thread (I am always learning new ways). Normally found sweet chestnut to be very stable and quick drying without degrade. However the chestnut I have turned has always been bland without the burr/inclusion and swirling grin you have here. It will be interesting to see how you get on.

Hope you are both well.

lovely burr bowls Tony, the press is an interesting idea,I suppose you could drill a series of holes in the spacers, wouldn`t really let the air circulate, but it would let them breathe a bit more, cheers,

Eric.

Thank You ..Eric.....Much Appreciated.... I`m very much thinking on those lines.
    Kind Regards Tony

Thank You Mark....Agree that it is a very forgiving Wood .... The problem I`m having is possibly because of all the High Figure
and Burr..... A bit like Apple Burr can react. My main problem is I think I`m trying to go too thin maybe I should leave them chunky.
Although its moving a lot there is no cracking.
    Kind Regards Tony

i wonder if putting the large Dehumidifier re usable bags inside the bowl with the support varnished would speed the drying up from the inside?

Of course you could always let me have some of it to try out, then we could swap notes on how we did :) :) :) :)

Lovely bowls, Di & Tony, great job. I love some of the work on here but still prefer the natural wood. A bit of a traditionalist I'm afraid.

Much Appreciated Steve .... Thank You.. Although we colour and Decorate some pieces of wood about 20% its usually bland
or mucky off cuts. Watching a piece of highly figured ... or burr ... even better if its together, come to life on the lath we still
both find absolutely amazing.  You never know what is hiding under the bark. So we are still 80%  big fans of pure wood  :) :) :)
  Not quite 100% though :) :) :) :)
  Kindest Regards
