Hi all
This form is turned in Burr Acacia to a thin wall, oiled and seasoned. It is 7 1/2 inch dia x 5 1/2 inch high.

Mark,
It's you posting things like this that keep the rest of us going, total inspiration,
That's some colour, certainly 'in your face' is it natural? It would be fantastic for making Lemons with if so also is that true Acacia or Robinia (Pseudo Acacia)?
-
Another superb piece Mark. Lovely form and colour. As others have said, inspirational. Malcolm. :) :) :)

That is a beautiful piece of wood on a lovely well made hollow form!!!!

Terry

Hi all
thank you very much. I enjoy turning these full hollow forms.
Bryan it is slightly more greenish golden type colour in the flesh, lighting not that good when pic taken, ( it was at the demo you went to at Burnham).
In relation to it being Acacia or False Acacia, I don't have bloody clue, :) the sawer that gave it to me said it is Acacia so that is what I have called it. I wouldn't dare call it False Acacia as it might hurt its feelings. :)

Very nice hollow form indeed ! It is Robinia pseudoacacia ( pseudo being latin for "false " ) timber sometimes known as golden oak, another pea family species , did you turn it when green and did it smell of peas /runner beans ? and did it also make your hands go purple ( like with green oak ? ) Terry...

Hi Mark
The examples of your work you brought to Llanelli Woodturning Club before Xmas were inspiring and this is another fine example, I like everything about it, looking forward to seeing the next one.

Ooooh what a beauty .... this sells itself .. and the price is .. ;) ... No no ..
Cheers

Hi David
Thanks, it was a lovely piece to turn.
I have to confess now that it is believed to be Mulberry Burr, or at least this is what it is thought to be by someone that knows considerably more about wood identification than me.
-
It's a lovely form, Mark, but I'd have said it was Acacia. I had a load of Acacia burr a few years ago and this is identical.
-
Thanks Andy
Thankfully I haven't written the species on the base yet or I would have had to rub it out so many times now I would have gone through the base. :)

Hi Mark,
Very nice piece, like the shape and the wood is bootiful as my old boss would say.
