Title: Chuck for a MYFORD ML8 Lathe!!!!
Post by: Sklig on July 11, 2017, 07:15:06 PM
Hi all,can anyone advise me what is a good chuck to fit to a Myford ML8,i think the spindle is 1"x16 TPI, after reading different articals  on the subject it mentions different size INSERTS and to be honest im lost, would appreciate any help on this matter, looking to spend around £100--£130, even a used chuck would be ok..........Many Thanks Steve.

As I recall, the ML8 had a 1"x12t.p.i. thread inboard (over the bed), and a smaller diameter on the outboard side.

Most chucks are manufactured to a set thread size and one then buys an insert to adapt the chuck to fit ones own lathe. For example, the Sorby "Patriot" chuck has a range of inserts available to fit it, their insert ref LRSPCO is the 1"x12 which I believe fits the ML8.
