Title: Demo pieces
Post by: bodrighywood on October 19, 2020, 03:23:14 PM
When Mo and I do shows we usually demonstrate as well, taking it in turns so people can see how we make and decorate things. These are a couple of the things we did at Trentham Gardens a couple of weeks ago showing how we turn things, texture and stain and pyro. Not in the shop yet as need some decent images to post first. Pyro'd pot is lime with an ebony finial and stands 8 1/2" tall. The small chalice is textured and stained with a fabric stain and is just 4" tall.

Cracking pyro work, as ever, and I especially like the staining of the little chalice. Is there some gold colour rubbed into it, or is that just reflections of soft light?

Thank you Les. No gold just the light on the texturing. Found it really hard to bget decent i ages of textured work as a rule so a bit happier with this one.

Mo's work with the Pyro pen is as amazing as ever, but the little dark chalice really appeals to me. It has a really old (C16th) look to it.

Thank you Bryan. The stain is actually for theatrical use with fabrics and gives wood a very distinctive look, ages it rather than just stains it. Mark Snager put me onto it some time ago.
