Ebonising spray where do you buy your spray that has the cheapest postage
-
I generally keep a shopping list in my shop and when I get to a reasonable amount, I buy from Axminster, as they have free shipping above £50.
-
Try using india ink (Quink) from Smith's then apply a finish.
-
I've done that in the past. It is black (Quink, be careful with other inks), but the resulting finish is different in feel an texture from ebonising lacquer. This is not to say one or the other is better, it's just that they are different.

Thank you guys have now ordered some It is not the case that I do not want to pay postage as I know that company's need to charge but the annoying thing is that I had just received an order and did not realise how low I was on this spray otherwise I would have ordered at the same time.
Also I had given the piece one coat of spray so wanted to keep the same. I do have many other mediums which will give me a black finish

Have a look at some of the car repair spray cans for bumpers, it's been a while but I used these years back and were a lot cheaper than wood turning suppliers and the results were the same.
Cheers Martin.

Careful with car sprays, some have a different constituent that can react with some of the wood lacquers etc. One I used went all squishy and had to be totally peeled off .

Thanks Pete bought a few cans on ebay (cheap as chips) no reaction with chestnut melamine lacquer or jo sones iridescent paints, so i will stick with this brand and leave the others alone, never even thought of that, guess i chose lucky
