Last Thursday I did a two-hour demo at Herefordshire Woodturners, on methods of scorching and embellishing scorched pieces. It was a whirl-wind demo, cramming a lot into two hours, so I made it clear from the outset that I wouldn't be attempting to finish any one of the three items that I worked on. Rather, I would progress with them as far as was necessary to show the methods involved, then complete the pieces at home.
So here they are....
- a spalted beech bowl, about 10" diameter, with verdigris wax and a cabochon of yew
- a lightly scorched laburnum weed-pot, with copper gilt cream
- an end-grain oak pot with lime wax and a cabochon of yew
C&C always welcome

Thank you George and John....they were a great audience and very appreciative....makes the effort worth while.

Very nice and impressive - though I am not quite sure what a 'weed pot' is!

....my apologies for using an Americanism....I guess we'd call it a dry-grass vase.

Thanks! Probably me - I also had to ask when my club asked for a 'bud vase'!

Nice trio for a demo would love to have see that

I had a front row seat at the demo and spent an interesting evening watching these three take shape. It's nice to see the finished results! They all look good Les.

They all look Good Les..... IF we had known you where at Hereford we would have popped over.
Got Tony thinking again on Raku and Cinders.... Back experimenting again.
Kind Regards

Thanks Tony/Di...I've been searching through the leads/links that you gave me and am currently experimenting with gesso, with coloured acrylics to stain it.
