time in the shed today turning this red mallee burr. this is finished with Hampshire sheen.

Nice piece of Aussie burr with a good finish.
From the second photo it appears that the wings are not of uniform thickness, the outer edges are thinner than the centre section? Which spoils it for me.

Nice burr and well finished.
I can see what Ken is seeing in the second image, but it's very irregular. If it had been a different width in the rim in your turning it would be a sweeping curve of changing thickness, I think it's more likely to be a trick of the camera along the natural edge of the piece.
