Title: X cut bamboo Streamline
Post by: woody on July 30, 2013, 04:58:18 PM
I wanted to make up this wood on a Jn Gents but I had just 1 drill bit missing and yes it was the 10mm I needed for the smaller barrel so I have ended up with a slimline pen
As stated it is made with X cut bamboo which is a bit of a so n so to turn very sharp chisels needed and fine cuts from the beginning to the end enjoy because I did finished with 3 coats of sanding sealer and a lot of Libron woodturners stick
All comments welcome

Woody. Always good to see your wook. Moreso now having thought you'd have to give up. So very pleased to see you back in the workshop making.
I do like the effect of the cross-cut bamboo. A 'wood' hard to use but also a much under utilised resource.
Well done on finding another way of using it.

Hi Woody, other than the common use round the garden and with Mark for his finishing touch to a piece with the Black Bamboo, this has come up very well, really nice patern and finish, could pass it off as an excotic timber ..  :D ..  We use Pine, as other Countries use Bamboo as a natural resource.  Have you come up with a first.
