Title: Ash vessel

This is a large ash vessel I made today. Sorry there is nothing in the photo to gauge the scale from, but the piece is about 10" in diameter, and took some hollowing! The vessel has no final finish applied yet - just a coat of black milk paint on the outside which has been burnished. Suggestions for final finish would be welcome - my default is a coat of raw linseed oil, but I might want something a bit less matt for this piece... The inner rim is hand carved with an abstract pattern. Usual c&c welcome.

Percy,

an impressive bit of turning, the shape is spot on.

I've no idea what sort of finish to apply over Milk Paint. I've seen it used for murals painted on exterior walls and it lasts years with nothing over it.

I sometimes use Chalk paint, that just has a soft wax finish over it, maybe that is your answer, but I'll defer to anyone that knows better.
