Title: yew goblet with lid.
Post by: wider on November 04, 2019, 10:31:54 PM
this is the main item I turned at the demo I did at a local club. it took 3 attempts to get the stem right as there was faults in the timber I used but dident see it till it was to late. then the 2nd was just not playing ball. got there in the end and finished it. all comments welcome.

Sorry but this one does not work for me, the cup and lid are good, nicely shaped and good timber, but the whole just doesn't work. Perhaps if the stem and finial were matched it would help, the base is the biggest problem it looks out of proportion.

As said the base spoils this mainly though the stem is upside down design wise, It rarely works having it with a heavier top than bottom. The base itself makes the piece look as if you got fed up so didn't finish it off though I doubt that is the case.

Sorry but have to agree with comments reference the foot and the stem. You need to be a little careful with the thin rim of the bowl as you can see a little tear out around yours.
As before the turning and finish look good
