I asked Tony for some different shapes to try , so he re-turned & sanded some old failures for me to play with.
Hopefully the photos are an improvement .... with a lot of help from a friend.
The Bowl is 12"...... The vase is 5"high and marbled inside and out that gave both of us something to think about.
The H/F is 5 1/2" high with a pewter finial cast by Tony with a gold gilt finish. The Marbling is Jo Sonja type acrylics.

Like the first and last ones a lot, both the overall pieces and the marbling effect work for me. 2nd one doesn't appeal to me as much, again both shape and marbling effect. Still a lot better than I can do LOL.

Totally agree With You Pete on the vase ..... Its certainly has not got a lot going for it ... it was though a good experimental
Shape / Piece to see if it was possible to marble the internal and external surfaces and to see what effect it had.

I think they are all a bit OTT for my personal taste. Too much going on, especially in the first one. I also think that in pieces like the bowl, the ring that holds it all together is much better placed at the underside of the bowl instead of the top. Don't get me wrong, I think they are good efforts as far as the marbling goes, but the combination of colours is a bit hectic for my taste.

As experiments in marbling awkward shapes, I'd say that they were rather successful, but from personal choice, the first two are a bit busy for me, whilst the third piece works well, I feel.

I'm with Pete on this, the first and last pieces are my favourites.
On the first piece, I think a contrasting colour on the bead, either black or possibly silver would work. If you went for black, colouring the inside cut edges the same may make the marbling pop out more.

I`m afraid Fuzzy , that it`s technically impossible to put the bead on the backside of a concave piece. Most of
our Routed pieces are done convex with beads on the back..... we wanted to take the routing right down to use the Lats
as the foot / base as we had not seen it done before.

Thank You Les .. Marbling the bowl gave us some problems as the lats break up the paint which meant it had to be
double dipped to cover back and front... which has made it look a bit over done. :) :)

Thank You Rick.... The bowl was made some years ago as an experiment and marbled in Army camouflage .... It can be
seen on our website under Diane...... It was sanded clean to re-dip ..... Agree with you that a Black or contrasting rim
might enhance it.

The bowl/platter is a total winner for me, design and post work.
I can see the experiment in the vase but am curious about what the inside looks like where the water, hence floating paint looks like where it flowed back together.
Not sure about the pewter finial on the hollow form, seems a little overkill on top of the paint effect.

marbling on the inside causes air pockets ;) ;D

I like the bowl that`s been routed before decorating allot,did you get the idea for this piece from Harvey Fein`s work in America,he does allot of big sculptural work this,if not,perhaps you should look him up on the web,a great artisan this man as you and Di are,cheers,

all three of us use different methods to achieve the same result.

We saw some of Rod Page`s work for the first time last year at Yandles Eric ..... He uses a different method to us.
ours is a Router on a swinging arm ..... Rod has a protected depth on his Router.
