Title: Union Graduate

Hi All
I'm new and I wanted to ask a quick question.
I am looking to buy a lathe always remember enjoying it way back at school and now in 50's its time to take up a hobby.
I have found a Union Graduate complete with all the parts at a price that I think is OK, the only problem the seller has said that the switch gear needs replacing. Does anyone know what this involves and approx. cost. The lathe is 240V and when I went to see it did run..
Appreciate any help that you can give me

Unless the graduate is a silly price then it is worth getting, one of the best lathes out there no matter how old. I learned to turn on one in school a few years ago, OK many years LOL. I don't know about the switch gear but sure someone will come back on it.

The switches on Graduate lathes were always breaking, that was usually the only thing that ever went wrong on them. I Imagine an electrician should be able to wire in a new one fairly easily.

If you go for electronic speed control, this replaces original switch gear. Then you really will have a great lathe.
