I purchased the Moisture Meter from Lidl today looks ok to me very well made by Burg-Waechter Germany The question I would like answered is
what range in % in wood is best for turning?

Somewhere about 12% is usual but silly as it sounds it can depend on where you live. I brought some pieces I had turned dry in Cornwall up to Wikltshire and they moved and split due to the difference in humidity.

Thank you Peter I suppose it is the same as bringing a turned piece into a central heated house.

Hi
Bought one yesterday, great. Tried it on a few green logs......some were down to 9% but some around 9" dia were 32% !!
Also checked the walls in the cottage, stone walls around 9%,dry lined walls around 6% - 7%. Seems outstanding value for money
