Title: Japanese Saws

Lidl have small Japanese style saws on offer today. These are really handy for parting off on the lathe.

I know they are meant to be the dogs proverbials but I could never get on with them. Always ended up bending them. Couldn't get used to cutting on the back stroke and not on the forward. That's just me though. I have a little vintage dovetail saw I use for parting off instead.

These have proved to be very popular at my wood turning club. The word went out via email a couple of days ago that they would be on sale today. I thought I’d grab a second one just in case anyone missed them and there were only a few left in my local store by 2pm.

I'm with Pete on this one , After years using a conventional saw doing it backwards is somewhat
cack handed for me , Any yes I also have a bent saw  >:(

After using the small Lidl saw quite some years ago I bought a proper full size Japanese saw from Axminster and found it really good, even on sheet stuff like plywood.

I do suspect the Japanese have been using pull saws for a long time, but I have a very old flush cut saw I got from my grandad, it cuts on the pull stroke.

I bet the Japanese are all fighting after our push saws in their Lidl equivalent , it's a funny ole must have world innit!!!
