Title: Beech Bowl

This is a Beech bowl which i turn a while ago

This was a challenge due to this being very soft in places, lots of supper glue and wood hardener to be able to fasten the screws in and then on the chucking point.

Size around 19" Dia x 16" Hight.

This was a commission, the beech provided by the client.

This was finished with finishing oil.

Hi Philip,
            I've looked at this twice now and still can't make up my mind whether I like it or not. It's obviously well executed and finished but I think the wood being so busy detracts slightly from it for me. As you know I'm not one for colouring but I think this piece would have benefitted from a bit of colour.

It seems we're swapping roles, John, because I wouldn't have coloured this.

It's just right as it is for me. I love this kind of bowl; natural, nobbly, and notty.

Hi Phillip,
I like the bowl nice natural peice of wood, I think it speaks for itself . I would not added colour to it - maybe a bit of a gloss finish would make it stand out more.

Ahh, now I quite like this one Martin,and I wouldn't colour it.Strange how the mind sees things differently,I think it is because the bark inclusions are more pronounced and the rest of the bowl is a more even colour than Phil's.

Philip,  I like it, works for me in the 2nd picture, very natural, beautiful details, in the end it's to be hoped above all the client was happy.
