I recently bought a wood lathe and it came with several of these (photos attached)
They look a bit like small faceplates but the screw holes are countersunk on the wrong side and the bores are not threaded and come in different sizes.

I must admit I’ve not seen anything like these before, I too wonder what they’re for.

I had something very similar screwed into the deck of a yacht to support handrail stantions ( are they made of stainless! I wonder?) my guess is that they have been mistaken for faceplates but are actually nothing to do with woodywork.

Some face plates did have counter sunk holes on the blank side to allow for any swelling in the wood from the screws used to fix the face plate.
Not sure if those are face plates all the same.

No, not stainless. Yes, could just have been mistaken for face plates I guess

They may have been intended as face plates, the different bore sizes makes me certain they are of no value, but my curiosity is wondering if they were machined incorrectly (countersunk wrong side) so scrapped before threading them.

They look like B F to me ( B F is Bin fodder ) :)

No such thing as bin fodder....everything has a use...........eventually!

They look a bit like the plates you put in the top of a bench for hold down clamps ???
