Title: Branding irons
Post by: thebowlerhattedturner on January 26, 2012, 09:47:17 PM
I would be interested to read any comments regarding branding irons. At the moment I use a pyrograph to "make my mark" but I am considering buying a branding iron with my logo on it. Does anyone have one and are there any down sides to it?
Regards

Try the one the toolpost sell. It's a cracker.

Which size is best, the large wouldn't work too well on small pieces.   ??? ..     http://www.toolpost.co.uk/images/Branding.pdf (http://www.toolpost.co.uk/images/Branding.pdf) ....    Cheers.   David

I think you just answered your own question, David!

The 18mm is a good size for most things. Of course there will be some small items you can't brand, but they're not high-end things anyway.

I played with the brands of all sizes at the seminar and was impressed with all of them. I still need to settle on a symbol before ordering though and I've not got round to it yet. You've spurred me on. Brands look so much better than a pyro'd sig.

I have been thinking about one of these for some time but having problems deciding on a design/logo or some sort of signature.   I would go for the 18mm one as well.

Thanks for that guys,
I will probably get the toolpost one. My brand as The Bowler Hatted Turner is B H with the T in the middle and a bowler hat above. It would be interesting to see other's brands.

Hi John
A bit late in replying but I've only just logged onto the forum for the first time.  I also have the 18mm brand from Toolpost and I'm very pleased with it.
Best wishes

Dave

Thanks Dave and welcome to the forum. I went to the toolpost on Friday and placed an order for an 18mm iron. It will take some time to arrive but I am looking forward to having identical brands on my stuff instead of handwritten9which I am rubbish at)
Regards

Hi all,
myself I prefer to brand by hand because not every place where I want to have my sign
is flat. In addition I can brand different sizes.
