Title: Yandles show
Post by: The Bowler Hatted Turner on September 11, 2017, 07:19:50 PM
I missed some of you at Yandles this time, where were you? It was nice though to have time to have a chat with John Montgomery who is my regional rep and Derek Puplett the new secretary. I had a catch up with Paul Hannaby and as always it was very pleasant to see Shiela Hughes the Rev's editor. The AWGB stand looked very good with a nice display of work on it. We did have some rain but nowhere near as bad as it was forecast (never is). I also met some of the regular members of the forum who have become friends over the years and that is always nice . Although I was representing the RPT this time I did have the opportunity to have a wander and I even watched some demos, spent more than I usually do but got some real bargains too. A good weekend.

Always good to meet up with old friends and aquaintances as well as those that know me but I can't remember LOL. Apologies to all of those. Did have a quick wander but seemed to spend a lot of the time talking (there's a surprise) amnd demonstrating.

I was there on Friday and enjoyed it very much as I always do, had a brief chat to Pete and George, there was a lot of deep conversation going on at the AWGB stand so didn't interrupt. Glad everyone else enjoyed it as well --  Julian

i made it for an hour or so on the Sat afternoon at the end. A lot of people were preparing to go so I was a bit disappointed. I will probably go to the next one and see what I think.

People start rolling in from abiut 8.30 so it is alkways a good idea to get there early rather than later if possible. Especially if you are going to grab some of the discounts Yandles do at the shows.

I realised when I got home that in the two days there, I didn't manage to find enough spare time to look round the wood store! I guess I will have to make up for it next time I go! ;-)

It was good to catch up with a few other turners. I hope to see you at the next one!

Unfortunately, I haven't seen any decent masur birch there for a few years now, just some uninteresting bits with splits in!

I still have a stash in my workshop waiting for me to do something with it ;-)

Had a great time at Yandles. While I was there (apart from seeing quite a few of you) I had a text from SWMBO telling me to 'Treat myself' - so I did and spent far too much!
