Nice project , Lovely piller drill and bandsaw :D

It's an interesting system, but flawed....it'll work only if all the handles follow a very similar pattern and how many of us have a set of turning tools which do! Even the maker had to tweak one of the smaller tools which started to slip!

I have been using that system for a number of years. For smaller tools I have another small unit to keep those in. Mind you I need to make another and even then by the time I put the wayward tools into it I will be looking at making more. The tools I have in the racks at the moment are the most used ones.
You will need to look behind the lathe as this photo was taken for another reason. That is not the ideal position for them but lack of space as I only have a 12ft X 8ft shed

I use simple terry spring clips of the correct size of the ferrule mounted to a baton behind the lathe, I store point down as them tools is sharp, never had one fall off in 20 years.

Mine is dual-rack and on wheels! It also has a little slot for a parting tools, and one day, maybe, i'll add some go-faster-stripes. ;D

Like me Fuzzy looks like you need more room for tools ;D

....which is exactly why I don't have a tool rack for turning tools. My collection of tools is a dynamic issue, unsuited to being sorted onto a rack!

Hi Les,
When you say a dynamic issue, does that mean you're constantly having to pick them up off the floor? :) ;)

Sometimes I think we have more tools than is needed the ones in the racks in front of my lathe are all the basic type tools that I use 99% of the time. As I said the rest are in a pile but still need a place to live

Actually, no. There are already some tools on that rack that I hardly ever use, so I could remove them and wouldn't even miss them (thereby leaving space for some others, which I probably also don't need).
