Title: Grumpy Santa pulling his sleigh
Post by: Schurchy on November 27, 2019, 04:27:37 PM
Still a little too early for the 'C' word, but I had a dozen of these to make for my family so had to get ahead. Just a bit of fun really and inspired by Carl Jacobson.
Made from A.Padauk(body, nose and hat), Maple(face/beard) and African Blackwood (boots). The sleigh has no turning but used off cuts from pen making mainly, as presents (even has runners)

I like that, it has a nice quality novelty value to it. Though it looks a bit time intensive, perhaps you had better start last month  :)

Fun project, I’m sure your family will be delighted as he looks great. :)

Many thanks guys. I make something for all the family each year and normally leave it late, leading to panic in December. Each one of these has 10 individually turned parts and then there's the sleigh as well, so this year most of the work was done in August. Once into production mode, with minimal chuck changes etc. the process was reasonably slick but still a lot of fun.

I prefer to think of him as somewhat weary after a hard night's work, rather than grumpy.....but whatever the mood, he's a fine looking little piece.

Thanks Les. Technically not difficult but rewarding ..... at least hopefully when they receive them on Xmas Day
