Title: A box of Blackwood
Post by: hughie on October 25, 2019, 01:10:48 PM
As much as I like boxes I  just never seem to get around to making them, something I find very curious.
This idea had been buzzing around in my head for sometime and wouldnt leave me alone :). Originally I had intend to use Mother of Pearl shell as the cross on the lid. But had trouble finding the right thickness and so had to contend with Bamboo. No idea what species of Bamboo it just grows wild here, but it seems to work.
Blackwood with a W.O.P. finish then buffed slightly, stands around 5.5" tall with a dia of 3.75"

What a stunning box Hughie, for me though I think it would have been great without the bamboo cross.
All the best
