Title: Mahogany oblong bowl

this one is 11"  x 7" x 3" mahogany with a polish finish all comments welcome

Winged bowls are hard enough to get right, but an oblong one - with the long wings cross-grain (i.e. easiest to splinter off) that must be quite tricky.

How do you find Mahogany to turn, I find it soft and very dusty even to cut never mind about sanding.

I hate turning the stuff and am glad that is the last bit the guy who gave it to me phoned me up tonight and ask if I wanted any more so I told him after turning the last 4 bits you gave me you can dlah blaf blaah it I feel the same about dry Oak

I think it is one of the cheepo Mahogany's it was quite soft nothing like Sapilie to turn and it is to light in color  I did turn some Sapilie and a good quality Mahogany the same day just to get rid of it all
