Found a rough turned piece in the woodpile from back in 2016 that looked like it could have some nice grain. Not 100% sure but one of the maple family. Measures 11" X 1 1/4"
The finish is cellulose sander sealer and natural coloured wax
C & C welcome

Looks like a piece of what I call feathered maple. Not sure of the proper name. Had several planks of it most with the dark part in it.

that's a very nice bit of crotch acer species. most likely Acer pseudoplatanus (Sycamore) but it may have been a norway maple Acer platanoides.

Thank you Pete and Steve it was a piece that I was given back in 2016 and it did not have any bark on it and was already split down the pith if my memory serves me right.
It was the width of the growth rings that got me that is why I put a question mark in the title. It turned very nicely and left a very clean surface that I was able to start at 180grit and in some places it may have even been able to start at 240 grit that is how well it cut.
