Title: VB36 Thrust issues
Post by: Lazurus on March 13, 2019, 02:54:59 PM
I am lucky enough to have a big green monster in my workshop, I have noticed if I put a lot of pressure on via the tail stock I can slow / stall the motor, the thrust bearings are adjusted as per the instructions, this does not occur with faceplate turning, and I have found I need to back off the tail stock quill to let the lathe get up to speed. No problem drilling with the tail stock it only shows when I hold stock with the tail stock live centers. It may have always been like this but I have never noticed it before, anyone else with a VB able to say if this is usual.

I have a green monster but have not experienced that problem. Best advice I can give is to raise the question on the YahooGroup VB36 Owners as they seem to have the best technical knowledge of the GM.
