Title: Wood id....
Post by: ChrisF on August 19, 2017, 12:51:10 PM
Hi, I know this is a big ask, and no, there are no other photos, or indeed any other information at all available  ;D

Any clues greatly appreciated....

Looks like a reclaimed piece of timber, judging by all the surface cracking....reminiscent of Jarrah sleepers or dock pilings.

looking at the splitting pattern i would guess ekki with the dark redd and mini striations i can see on some of it but it doesn't appear to have the white deposits in the pores so as les suggests it could be jarrah too.

actually i think it is karri rather than jarrah aas jarrah doesn't really have those zigzag striations in it.
