I've seen them like that years ago!!

My Granddad had one like that - home-made.
Yep it nipped his fingers, thankfully didn't loose anything though.

When I was first apprenticed we had one with a 3 foot diameter blade. The teeth were bolted on and it used to scare me to death.
Thank heavens for health and safety changing the legislation. At the same time they outlawed square blocks for planers and spindle moulders which was designed to prevent grab. At least with the modern cutters now they push your hands away rather than drag them in.
I think every farmer I know has had one of these saws knocking around. Scary.

H&S and Portugal are words that should NEVER be put together!
Those old table saws are in common use here as are many other items that would be outlawed in the rest of Europe!
Things missing here that are in the rest of Europe...
Indicators (Cars and Motorbikes)
Highway Code
Slaughter Houses
Wood turning products
Speed Cameras (Thank Goodness!)
Tarmac
Car Tax
Road Planning
Abidance of ANY laws
Building Regulations...
Oh believe me the list is endless!
