Title: Brown Oak
Post by: z3ddie on July 04, 2015, 04:04:23 PM
I was asked to make a votive holder and could it be 'rustic' - no sanding, just turned and then a liberal dose of Danish Oil - I did put a bit of superglue to protect the main part and it held up really well.
C and C welcome - it parts company with me later today

Yes Steve - I was asked to make something like this a while ago and was waiting for the right bit of timber - I think it worked out well!

Like it  :) - it may look even better with a shorter candel holder?

You've filled the brief well on this piece. Nice Oak, puts me in mind of having used an old pulley block.

The votive holder had been supplied for the purpose, as Steve has said, I see a recess cut for a tealight holder, which would give two options for usages for candles.

Cheers for sharing.  David

Seventh might have provided the timber but it looks like something that might have been rescued from a church roof during a rebuild. It'll fit right in as a votive candle holder.
