Title: Tassy Eucalyptus burl [Burr] bowl
Post by: hughie on October 16, 2012, 12:52:26 AM
This one is the completion of a rough out I did several years ago. Some of the resin veins I have filled with powdered brass to give the idea of gold trapped in the burr.

11x4 finished with WOP and buffed back to lower the gloss some what.

Hughie, a classic form excellently executed. I like the flakes of brass as points of interest, enough but not excessively applied.

' lower the gloss some what '  how glossy had it been, this is an awesome form and finish.

A fairly common form and felt the need to make it stand out from the rest and the brass did the trick.

The 'gloss' I find most if not all high finishes have tendancy to look somewhat plastic. So I buff them with EEE shine and polish this knocks the edge off the gloss. What I try and achieve is the polished look that you see on veteran and vintage cars that have been hand polished for years by the owners

Thanks for your positive comments, always appreciated.
