Lignum Vitae pen
« on: June 10, 2022, 11:41:11 AM »
Just For interest and as there seems to be not much going up right now!

The wood is cross-grain lignum vitae - this is OK but a little tricky to machine cleanly even with very sharp tools - so in practice finished with quite a lot of sanding.  But the cross-grain gives a lovely sheen.  Green highlights are 'Trustone' malachite (85% stone 15% acrylic).

Kit is Beaufort Mistral.

Love a bit of Argentine lignum does i... it'll turn a lovely colour in the sun.

nicely made too as i expect the gross grained timber is more brittle than just about anything else...

i can supply some genuine lignum if you want to compare turning the two as cross grained pens.
