I just thinned down some nail varnish with acetone about 50/50.

It mixed no problem, held the colour well and just looked like....
well, thin nail varnish.

I painted it on a bit of tulipwood scrap. It went onto the smooth
part extremely well, stayed on top and dried quickly.
Interestingly, it seems to have lost it's high gloss. Where I
painted it onto the un-sanded part, it soaked into the open
grain and dried almost immediately. Both sides I gave
several coats and I must say, it has a strong look to it, but
I'm not sure what use it has. It's kinda a good answer looking for a good question....

Incidentally, the reason I bought it many moons ago, was to cover some
digs and scrapes in my son's standard red strat guitar. It's a perfect match, but
the real bonus was, that, being so thick, it filled the scraped patch and the high
gloss just looked natural to the guitar. Two coats and job done to the point
of almost total invisibility.

Have a good weekend folks
