Evening all.

Just introrducing myself, as is traditional at these times.
I am Nick from Hereford.  I did my first bit of turning at school in the late 70's, early 80's.  It was a rounders bat made out of an Ash branch, I was the envy of the rest of the team!.

Since then nothing until January last year when I decided I needed a hobby to de-stress.  £300 at Axminster later and I got started.  I am not sure that self teaching is the right way to go about it but as I have no one to tell me where I am going wrong everything is great.

I will post a few examples of where I am up to for your critical appraisal.

Looking forward to typing to your all.

Nick

Welcome to the forums.

I am new myself, having only joined a few days ago.  I am in the same boat - did some turning years ago then came back to it recently.

Everyone on here seems friendly and happy to share their knowledge.

Welcome to both of you. I'm sure you'll both find plenty of help on here. Just don't be worried about asking questions.

I think the forum may be a little quiet until after the Easter break, but keep checking in if you post a question.

regards,

Andy

Hi Nick,Welcome to the Forum there is always someone on the Forum that will help you or will know someone who can. On of the best ways to get advice and tuition is to join a Woodturning Club. If you look at the Web Site you will be able to see if there is a Club near you.Best of Luck.

Welcome aboard Nick
Our other Newbie, Gary is a chef, you're not a brewer by any chance???? ;D
If either of you is near the Norfolk coast this summer give me a look and we'll see if we can bust a few woody myths together.
Best
Brian

Nick, welcome to the wonderful world of woodturning. It's just what you need to de-stress that quiet humm of the lathe, the gentle slice of the wood, the harsh crinkle as a few more pound notes disappear out out your wallet for another must have something or other.

But then that's what hobbies are for, to take up your spare time and spare cash!
Oh Lord, Lead me not into temptation…

...Oh who am I kidding, follow me, I know a shortcut!
