Bandsaw Cool Blocks

Anyone suggest a supplier in the UK who actually has stock, or a material to fabricate my own as current ones have just about worn away.

Try to get an old bowling ball, the old wooden ones, these were made from lignum vitae and sometimes crack and split which is how I got mine!

a tenner each can be considered a good deal these days pete. i still buy them on occasion on ebay to use as skittle balls if they have no inserts either side and some of the prices people ask is quite astonishing mate..

I only need a couple of small lengths to finish 1/2" square, pen blank size would be fine.

Wont make much of a dent in your sore methinks........

Oh yes indubitably. Just make sure they are lignum vitae not lignite or some other plastic equivalent.

Lazarus it would be cheaper for you to just buy the right thing rather than have wood shipped to you ,even small bits. If not metal it should be a hardwood but if you don'y have lignum boxwood will do the same job. I remember years ago we had a machine that had blocks made from Oak that was kept soaking in a bucket of oil, at a push that might do.
