Beech Hollow Form
« on: September 07, 2017, 08:04:48 PM »
Just finished this one today made from Beech and measures 5" X 4". I had the pyrography machine last November as a Birthday present and have not used it that much, so it was a learning curve for me not just in its use but making my own curly wire shape.

C & C Welcome

derek I like the shape and I like the decoration, I would however have liked it more if the middle burnt line was a bit crisper. Otherwise a good job.

Hi Derek

This is not to my taste I do not like hollow forms with the pinched base it looks unstable and top heavy.

I like what you trying to do but the overall shape is too straight for me. Much prefer a curved conture. The pyrowork also looks promising. Not easy doing it a curved vessel like this.

Thank you all for the comments.

As for the pyro work all comments are welcome and any points are taken on board, I certainly agree about the centre line needing to be a little more defined.

I have also not done that many hollow forms so again comments received are also taken on board.

And finally If we all liked the same thing it would be a boring place as they say "variety is the spice of life"

We like the concept of this one Derek .... Unfortunately for us this piece does look top heavy. The neck part
has given a really good effect and the idea could be taken further.

Well Derek

I have to agree about the shape I think that it would have looked much better without the bottom third.

But I really like the other two thirds  :)

Nice pyro work.

All the best

Hi Derek,

Nothing wrong with this, the shape is tugging at my brain. I've seen something similar in history but I cannot bring the 'what' to immediate mind.

Good effort on the pyro work, something I've only touched on a little so no expert myself, but having seen what can be done with a pyro pen, it looks like an exciting journey.

Keep up the good work and looking forward to seeing more of your 'learnings' in the future.

Sorry for late reply everyone. Thank you for the comments. Yes I think the foot could have been a little bigger which in turn will widen the bottom of the form
