I'ts between the devil and the deep blue sea for me on this one. I love burrs and I particularly like the sharp peaks but I also like thin(ner) wall thicknesses. I know you can't have both and what I say is a personal observation, I wonder how it would have looked had it been turned off centre, but then again that is a totally different kettle of fish as you then have to take balance, both visually and pracically into consideration. Good finish though.

Hi John (BHT).
Thanks for your comments and I understand how you feel.
I spent quite a bit of time deciding how to tackle this burr, as the wedge shape of the rough burr always meant it was out of balance, and also the burr did not penitrate throughout. Turning it is easier than deciding the end result, you only get one chance.
The finish is multiple coats of danish oil with a wax buffing
Regards
Ken
