Good effort Mike but I think it would be better described as a Vase

George Watkins probably one of the best Hollow Form turners in the Country described a Hollow Form as a Vessel with a hole so small you could not see the tool cutting inside the Form and I think that is right.
Still a good effort Mike

Hence the aversion to a certain tool (which I used) that wouldn't go through a smaller hole lol.
Thx George.

I remember now you have the Sorby  sovereign ultima system and you are probably right it is a poor system for Hollow forms due to its bulk.
If you pop in and see me Mike I will lend you a Crown Revolution to try and see how you get on.

Great effort, Mike.....I've still not turned a hollow form in the manner that George referred to!
Les
Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

Thankyou Les-at times it was scarey. I will persevere until there is no visible entry point lol.
The form will be perfect-it just won't be hollow.

Thanks for your comment Eric-I'm thinking that 'vase' is more a term about function rather than shape, maybe the term 'enclosed form' could be more apt  ;D

Cheers,
Mike.

Mike,

somewhere between a vase  and a Hollow form  there is an 'closed form', where the top closes but not to a small hole. I think you can describe it best that way.
