Umm, what's an avatar?

John,

It's the name of your on-line persona image, e.g. the little photo of yourself or something, that you chose to represent yourself.
Oh Lord, Lead me not into temptation…

...Oh who am I kidding, follow me, I know a shortcut!

Have you given up trying to escape Bryan ?

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Cos you haven't done one. You need to choose a picture as an avatar in your profile settings

You certainly used to have one John, a pic of you standing by your lathe if I remember correctly.

Umm, what's an avatar?

What's the POINT of an avatar?

It seems to me that they increase the size of the page so slow downloading.

Maybe by only a little - but I'd  rather see the page as quickly as possible

MC

Since nobody has responded to, or commented on, this post, should  I  deduce that Avatars are totally pointless?

...it's a good job that scientists developing new cancer cures don't work to the same set of research criteria....i.e., I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary, so I must be right!

Maybe people just didn't see the point of getting involved in that discussion.

Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

The file size for a minute avatar image is so small you wouldn't notice page loading speed on anything but the slowest internet connection.

In answer to your question on what's the point of an avatar, consider why everyone registers with a name instead of a number.

I have made a couple more tweaks so hopefully avatars and images should be showing correctly in all common browsers.
