               Steve .... Tom cut the tree up 3weeks ago and it was over 3ft wide .Don`t think Maple grows that big,

sycamore it is then. never seen burr sycamore before hence why i thought it was field maple.

the biggest field maple i've seen was 24".

they can get bigger but they are usually hollow.

Looking good Tony!

I've got a couple of HF's roughed out, judging by those they should look pretty good when done, assuming my turning does the wood justice :-)

Steve (7th), Defo Sycamore, fantastic timber, not much burr, but ripple/figure galore.
