A lump of Ash, about 24" x 15", not sure what it weighed. Was turned into nothing special, a lady wanted a giant mushroom for her garden.

Sorry I haven't got pictures of the largest as it's only recently I have taken pictures of work.
The heaviest was green oak porch columns at 14" x 7'6" it took three of us to get it in the lathe. The biggest diameter I have turned was a 64" dia x 3" clock bezel in Oak.
I have a few pics of recent work so here are three, A 700mm x 1000mm tie base of which I have made lots they are painted red and for Debenhams displays, I couple of smaller porch columns at 200mm x 2300mm and a cornice for a corner wardrobe approx 1000mm x 75mm

I think Steve Jones efforts will take a lot to beat !!!..........  Eric are you sure that is Elm ?,it looks very much like Robinia to me , but hard to be sure from pictures ..  Personally I quite regularly start with 20-30 kilo lumps that  are often trimmed close to shape with a chainsaw before getting to the lathe  hollow forms and bowls ...Terry ..

Hello All

I've couple of contenders, the 'If I Had Wings' piece I've shared on the forum before, that was at its maximum 36" x 24". http://www.awgb.co.uk/awgbforum/index.php/topic,3454.0.html It wasn't particularly heavy and certainly didn't compare to GBF's Wall plaque (what RPM did you turn that at George?)

A couple of years ago I also turned a piece with Andrew Hall called 'Wall Heart', this was mounted on a back board and turned as a single piece, this was a similar size but much heavier.

It's good fun, challenging and something I'm looking to do more of this year.

All the best for 2016.

Cheers Rick
