You must have the patience of a saint Eric.
Well done.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Your not just thinking outside the box, you threw the box out. This is an awesome project well done.

The mind boggles about this project, but the question that I feel most compelled to ask, is 'What is going to become of this work?' Did you make it for a specific purpose, Eric? I can see that any one of us might strive to complete a project simply for the satisfaction of proving to ourselves that boundaries can be broken and new ideas achieved - and you've certainly done that - so  I do hope that the finished work finds an appreciative home.

Eric,

your work is always different from the normal direction of woodturning, this only extends that but in a whole new direction.

Great to see a new and novel idea, like it lots.

thanks for all the nice comments, not happy with the web though, hope to make another one with a thinner web with hopefully longer spoke pieces as the web looks to clumpy to me and not delicate enough.

Les,I made this piece just to see if it could be done and yes it would be nice if I could sell it,I have to make a base and a cabinet for it before I can transport it anywhere,as scared of rogue fingers poking and damaging it,especialy the spider and the wasp, keep knocking the legs off the wasp and the spider to,before it was mounted, will have to see what happens, cheers,

Eric.

Eric I keep coming back to this piece. I think the insects are absolutely stunning, like you I am not sure that the web works in its present form. I feel that the central parts should be more 5 or 6 sided shape rather than go to a point in the middle. Good work though.

Will you be bringing it to the club next month Eric? I would love to see it.
Will you be trying out Ryans square spindles?

TBHT,yes was thinking of a small ring drilled to take the amount of medullary rays/spokes to the centrepiece and make it look neater,I bought some micro drills that run truer than my normal small drills.

Ron,sorry between sunbathing and making the wasp I haven`t had time yet to do the square turning, although saying that,I did do one many years ago when I saw one in a book, nut that went to a family member,if I get the base and case made I`ll bring it to show you, depends on the time I get down the workshop, cheers,

Eric.
