Cyclone Dust Collectors
« on: June 15, 2015, 11:38:57 PM »
Does anybody have experience of the sort of Cyclone Dust Collector that sit on top of a bin and are connected to a Vacuum cleaner, please?

I'm  thinking of a “ready to use outfit” rather than a kit.

I've  come across various names - Dust Deputy, Dust Mite, Dust Commander - but it would  be good to see a comparative review of the different models and/or to read the comments of people who have used them.

With best wishes and thanks.

I think some of these can be very noisy so it pays to listen to one if possible before buying.

This is true there is a lot more air/wind noise generated, I know someone who had a dust commander, he actually ended up making a sound insulated box to keep it in due to this taking even more space, also in my opinion the suction actually wasn't as powerful as a good quality extractor either, but that's just me.
Axminster make a cyclone vacuum I think but presume they will me expensive as it would be a trade item, may be a good idea to pop into them if you have an outlet close to home.
Keep us informed how you get on.

I used to use a vacuum cleaner for extraction, very noisy & hot running I thought. I've now got a camvac wall mounted system which is cyclonic. There's an exhaust hose which vents nearly all the noise outside, the extraction is superb too. Bought mine second hand, there's several about. Well worth looking into.
