New outlet.
« on: June 14, 2015, 06:38:12 PM »
Recently we were asked if we would like to join a co-operative gallery in Shaftesbury. We have been doing a monthly stall there for a year and so knew the area, potential etc and overall it was well worth doing. Just spent the day setting up,our display. Time will tell but this sort of chance is always worth the risk. Only downside is I now need to rebuild some of my stock for shows LOL.

Well done Pete and good luck, it looks like a great display of your skills.

I hope the commission rates of a co-op gallery are more in your favour compared to a private gallery!

Kind regards

David

No commission David, a flat monthly fee that is about the same as a cheapish craft fair.

That sounds like a great idea - I wish I could find a similar outlet around here.

I have just been looking at outlets for trying to sell some of my work locally, but have been rather shocked by the commission rates!

Good for you Pete. I hope it really takes off.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Thanks guys. The big advantage is that I am basically renting space and have full say over what goes in it and how it is displayed. Normally galleries say what you put in and how it is displayed. Disadvantage I suppose is that it costs me whether I sell or not but as I have been selling there for over a year now and have a good idea as to what I can make over a 12 month period I am on a fairly safe bet. I know that one or two other turners on here are part of a co-operative gallery such as this so they do exist, elsewhere.
