I find the same with the goblets I do in that some that are beautiful in glass, silver, gilt etc can look really awful when done in wood. Medieval chalices are often very heavy and ornate but in wood they just look clumsy and clunky. Different materials have a different effect when it comes to shape etc. Like George I have a pile of stuff that hasn't left the workshop though mine tend to get curt up and used for other stuff rather than burnt. Also some pieces that i am happy with sit on the shelf indoors for a while and then become rejects as the overall look just doesn't work but also doesn't immediately seem apparent. Is nothing simple LOL?
