Just been looking at this on fb....that's a fine piece of timber, Ed. I like the line of the bottom half, but my personal preference would have been for a flat top....but as I say, that's personal. Either way, it's still something that I've yet to tackle, but look forward to having a go at, one day.

Hi Ed

A great bit of wood and a great bit of hollowing! It must of been difficult to get around that sharp curve.

Kind regards

David

it must take some working to get all the chippings out of the hole?
why do i feel the need to turn a block of wood into shavings?

Thank you all for your feedback

Les I will try a flat top to this shape the next time I do something like this, I guess you would have to hollow a flat top from the bottom.

David it took a bit of doing but you can get there with a angled headed tool.

Steve you can fish out the shavings with a piece of wire or you can suck or blow them out.

Glad you like the wood George :)

A lovely bit of Horse Chestnut Ed....... Knowing its not the easiest wood to get a good finish on ,
You have done a good job there...... well done.
