I also like the foot size. If I HAD to nitpick I would say that the finial is a touch to wide/heavy at the top but as Georg said, that is just personal taste. The vessel as a whole is gorgeous

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Steve I do like this but wonder if you are creating problems for yourself by laminating what is effectively a hardwood and a soft wood together. In time I feel you may have a problem with differential shrinkage.
 Nice piece though.

yes I did give this some thought and you are correct with your thoughts but as they are both very stable woods I think the risk was low. Only time will tell.
I did also turn a small rebate in the poplar and tenon on the wenge then after gluing I cleaned up inside with a small hollowing tool rather than just laminating with a butt joint so it should not separate.(fingers crossed)

Sounds good Steve, I can never make up my mind as to which piece should have the tenon, same as cleating, could never remember. :-\ :-\
